Atiku confirms exit from APC

Former vice president, Alhaji Atiku
Abubakar has confirmed his exit from
the ruling All Progressives Congress
(APC) via his Facebook page.
LETSKNOW had reported that there was
speculation that the former vice
president was dumping the ruling party
for the opposition Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP).
While there has been no official
confirmation yet of Atiku’s movement to
the PDP, the former vice president has
shared the statement of his resignation
from the APC.
Below are some of the key reasons Atiku
gave for leaving the APC.
1. While other parties have purged
themselves of the arbitrariness and
unconstitutionality that led to
fractionalization, the All Progressives
Congress has adopted those same
practices and even gone beyond them to
institute a regime of a draconian
clampdown on all forms of democracy
within the party and the government it
produced
2. A governor produced by the party
wrote a secret memorandum to the
president which ended up being leaked:
Since that memorandum was written up
until today, nothing has been done to
reverse the treatment meted out to those
of us invited to join the All Progressives
Congress on the strength of a promise
that has proven to be false. If anything,
those behaviours have actually
worsened
3. The party we put in place has failed
and continues to fail our people,
especially our young people. How can
we have a federal cabinet without even
one single youth.
4. A party that does not take the youth
into account is a dying party. The future
belongs to young people.
LETSKNOW had earlier reported that the
former vice president is set to formerly
move to the PDP on Saturday, November
25 in Adamawa ahead of the party’s
national convention scheduled for
November 9.
Atiku is expected to collect his
membership card in his Jada 1 polling
ward in his state as his supporter
prepare for what they tagged as “Atiku’s
home coming.”
A member of Atiku’s political group who
spoke on the condition of anonymity
said “thousands of supporters had been
mobilised from the 21 local areas in the
state.
”Twenty buses have been allocated to
each local government area for the event;
the buses will convey supporters to
Yola.”
